I have this dream, a dream that I first thought up one evening back in the summer of 2016. It just happened to be the same evening my wife took this picture of me.
As I sat there fishing with my daughters pink Zebco that evening, catching whiting, I was thinking about how much fun I had that week during my vacation at the Outer Banks, fishing and hanging out with my family. It was a summer vacation I'll never forget! I think the smile on my face tells it all. Although at the same time I was thinking about how much I dreaded going back to work as I knew it then.
I was so tired of the same old work routine and dreamed of a new way to make a living. I wanted to be able to truly live and enjoy life more. I realized that evening that if I wanted to make a change in my life like this the only one that could make it happen was me.
So, from that evening on I started working on a long-term plan to make that dream a reality! This plan had the potential to one day allow me to hang up my tool belt for good and start a new life doing what I truly love!
It has been a long road with lots of dedication, long hours and very little early return. Yet all of it was needed to fulfill the dream.
I want to say thanks to all of you for your support over the years and for taking this journey with me! I am more grateful than you could ever imagine!
Also, I look forward to meeting all of you out on the water soon!

It was nice to get back out on the water yesterday! The morning trip started off Cold! The boat deck kept icing up until the sun got up over the trees. The bite was great with Trout to 26 inches! The afternoon bite was much slower. They caught fish, but it was nothing spectacular, and you really had to be patient. I could see fish everywhere. They were just not feeding. It was a great day to be on the water!Button -

Today was awesome! I had some return clients/friends Paul, Tom, and a new friend Craig for a morning Trout charter, and it couldn't have gone any better! First of all, I have to congratulate Craig for catching a true gator trout at 30 1/2 inches! It was the biggest Trout I've seen, just shy of 9 lbs! Amazing! These guys caught so many Trout this morning I honestly lost count! Then, on top of all that, Craig pulls up a random keeper Flounder!? Thanks for the business guys! Yall rock!Button -

I'd like to give thanks for family, great friends, and the beautiful planet that the good Lord gave us! I had an awesome morning charter that could not have been better! They landed 4 citation Trout, including a 28 incher! We had a boat limit by 9 am! Then, after I brought them back to the dock, my good friend Reid and I fished the afternoon for fun! Well, I had a chance this past Wednesday to dust off my kayak and get back to my roots! This time of year, one of my favorite places to fish is Kiptopeke! I hit my buddy Jim up, and we made a day of it out there. We started the morning with some nice Speck action, I landed around 10 or so in the 18 to 20 inch range. There were also some nice slot drum mixed in as well. Could have had a limit of both but I wasn't keeping these guys. Then we moved to the ships with the Ebb tide and landed some nice Flounder and a bunch of short Togs and baby Sheep. I'm also pretty sure a big red grabbed my crab and headed south at roughly 40 mph completely catching me off guard and broke me off lol! After that, we moved South of the ships and both landed a limit plus of quality Sheep's in less than an hour. Then, we rode the flood tide back up the ships for some awesome Tog action! The bite was instant as soon as you sent it down! I landed 2 Tog at 17 inches right away, and caught several more that were just under 16. I'm talking 15 7/8 lol. We easily burnt through 150 fiddlers fishing for these Togs. It was a perfect day out there, and I thoroughly enjoyed being in my kayak again! It was also great fishing with my bro Jim again as well! Just like old times! Oh, and that sunset was insane!Button -

It was Sushi for dinner with the family tonight! Shrimp Tempura, Grilled Blackened Shrimp, Cold Smoked Salmon, Spicy Blue Crab California, and a couple of combo rolls to finish it off! As close to eating healthy as I am willing to get, lol! Learning this skill continues to pay off! Gets better each time!Button -

I want to thank Kenny, Ron, and Jeeter for going out with me yesterday! We moved the timing of the trip to fit the winds, and it proved beneficial! There were fish everywhere! Including a pod of at least 30 Cobia that appeared repeatedly around my boat. And I'm talking the biggest I've seen! They got so close at one point I could have caught them in my net alone! It was amazing to see! Its like they know I don't fish for them, so they like me 😅. On the other side, I now know exactly how they look and behave below the surface when shooting livescope. It's amazing how much things can change in 2 days! This past weekend was tough, but all the fish are back in their normal areas now. I had a morning trip yesterday with Caleb, Andrew, and Eli. The Sheep bite was good and we also had a nice mix of Black's and Red's! These are just a few pics from what they caught! All caught on my homemade jigs!Button -

It was nice to get back out on the water this weekend after a week of wind. I can say that the NE blow we had from that storm definitely moved the fish around. I had an awesome couple Saturday afternoon, and the bite was decent. The Sheep were a tough bite, but I found some Reds, and they enjoyed that! I had 3 guys Sunday morning, and the bite was terrible. We ran all over the bridge and tried all kinds of colors and types of jigs. Only caught 3 Sheep. No drum either. It was a frustrating morning for sure. Then my afternoon crew was looking to be the same, 4 hours in only one Sheep. Once again, I found fish, but they were really spread out in small groups. We could not get them to bite. I tried one last idea, and the trip was saved right at the end! We stayed out an hour extra, and they caught 11 Sheep that last hour! Thank you baby Jesus! All were caught on my homemade turd colored jigs! 🤣Button -

Had an awesome full day trip with Tyler and David today! We caught some nice Flounder inside Lynnhaven while waiting for the winds to settle. Then we headed out and laid the smack down on some Black Drum! It was one of the best Drum bites I've seen! Finally we finished with some nice Sheepy action! A great day!Button -

Well folks, I enjoyed my families vacation at the OBX last week! It was nice to have some downtime! I even had a chance to go yak fishing lol! I did come home a bit early though because I had all of this arriving! I finally made the decision to go full Lithium power for my boat! I have been looking at it and spent a great deal of time researching it. I finally decided on these 2 companies for the upgrade. I want to give Monster Marine Lithium and Epoch Lithium a big shoutout for helping me with this project! They answered all my questions and hooked me up with this amazing setup! It honestly took me 2 full days to remove all the old equipment and make the change over to the new system. That did include all new cables, bus bars, and proper mounting of all the components. The result is a more organized and safer system. In the end, the new setup saved me just over 160lbs and gave me 3 times the power of the old lead acid system. I'm stoked! Video coming soonButton -

Ok, so this one is special! Will and his son Ryland have been out with me several times over the past year. Today, Ryland grabbed his own crab out the bucket, baited the hook himself, and legit dropped it on a piling unassisted. And, after a few attempts, he hooked into a monster Sheepshead! Then came the grueling fight! For those that don't know these fish are strong! Yet, he held strong and landed it on his own! All I did was net it! So congrats to you, Ryland, for your 10.20 lb ,officially weighed, citation Sheepshead! You earned it, bud!Button -

Today was interesting... I arrived at the boat ramp this morning and quickly realized I had left all my long sheep poles at home. On top of that, the North winds picked up this morning well above predicted. Still managed some nice Sheep's with my charter using Flounder poles. Then I fished the afternoon myself and filmed 2 whole videos, only to discover when I got home that my Ttop box somehow came open on the hwy and I lost my hat along with my gopro. The weather is such a pain sometimes. I always try to give my clients the best trips possible, and I will reschedule quickly if I see any threat to that. My morning trip with Kyle and Joel looked to be great by all forecasts, but then this wind from the NW just showed up randomly. We tried many options, but nothing was biting. Well, today didn't go as planned. I had a charter this morning, and the wind forecast showed 4 mph all morning. That was not the case. I had already driven up and launched with clients when this became obvious. So, I offered a reschedule, and they were cool with that. After chatting for a bit and dropping these awesome folks off, I went back out solo to do some scouting/filming. I'm glad I did! It was rough, but it turned out to be an awesome day!Button -

Well, I finally got a chance to go fishing today! After looking at the winds, I noticed there was a small window this afternoon, so I invited my friend Bryan and his son for a test trip out in the bay. It was my first trip out there this season, and I was pleasantly surprised! We caught some nice Tautog, as well as some healthy and hungry Sheepshead. We also caught more toadfish than I want to admit, lol! It was so nice to get back out there! I am looking forward to this season, and it seems to be off to an early start! Well, it was an awesome day out on the water today! After having to do actual work lately, it was nice to get out and just fish for fun. Had my bro Reid join, and it was great catching up with him! It started out slow, but we found a massive school of Drum, and they were chewing! We honestly got tired of catching them. Largest was 34 1/2 inches. We had over 20 easy. Happy New Year! And today was a great start! I really enjoyed taking these folks fishing today! We found a massive school of Reds that were chomping. Easy boat limit and released at least 30 more. They caught several over 30 inches as well! Good times! I'll be available for Charters through right through the winter...Button -

Well, I had my first Inshore/Trout charter today, and I was a little worried about how it was going to go. It did start slow, then we found a truly Hot bite out there. Ended up with an easy boat limit, and threw almost that many again back! 20 inchers were the average today. All were caught casting, no trolling on my boat lol! I enjoyed meeting these guys and getting to know them! We all had a laugh as well when they realized they forgot to bring a cooler, so they used some fishing pants as a fish bag! Priceless!Button -

I had a free day today so I took the boat out solo for the first time in months. It was nice to be able to take my time and explore some, and also to have time to really play with the settings on the new Livescope plus setup. All I can say is it surprised me how well it worked! I was cruising along the bridge and ran across a school of Bull Drum just chilling and could see them as plain as day! Gonna have some spoiled clients this weekend lol!Button -

More information on missing kayaker I just had a friend send me this information, he was launching out of Lynnhaven Inlet this morning and he said that he crossed under the Lesner Bridge headed out at 5:45 am this morning and saw a kayaker with nav lights on his kayak in the approximate area marked by the yellow square in the picture at that time. The kayaker was still in the kayak at that time. He is a firefighter as well and after seeing the posts about the missing person he called it in and it was confirmed that the yak that was found had nav lights on it. Passing this info along in hopes that it helps...Button -

Well, I finally upgraded to the LVS 34 transducer for the Livescope system on my boat! I've been rocking the original LS system paired with an 8610XSV chartplotter for 3 years now and honestly it's hard to imagine it being any better. But seeing the target separation drop from 22 to 14 inches at a 100 ft is a pretty big change. The physical size difference in the 2 models is very apparent as well. Excited to get it out and test it!Button -

Finally made it back out on the water yesterday after a week of crazy winds. I had Glenn, Dan, and Dan out for a morning charter. The weather was nice and the fish were hungry! Had an easy limit of Sheeps up to 27 inches, but they chose to release most of them! Then we tried for Flounder for the last hour and ended up hooking into 5 Sharks. A fun trip for sure!Button -

A little late on posting this one... I had a great afternoon trip out yesterday with Todd, Brian, and Ryan! These guys all work together and they were a trip to fish with! Lots of smack talking out there! I was cracking up! I feel bad for whoever the guys were they kept sending pics to rubbing it in Lol! All but a few of these fish were catch and release. 2 citations were caught and released as well! Mad respect for that! You guys rock!Button -

First, I want to say Happy Independence Day to everyone! And God bless this country and all the freedoms it gives us! Today, I took Zach and Tom out to try for some Sheepy fun! It started slow, but finished with a feeding frenzy! They landed roughly 18 or so today, most of which was caught in the last hour. Then on the way back to Lynnhaven I spotted a large brown discoloration in the distant water. Turned out to be a massive school of Bull Drum! A great way to end the day!Button -

Just got home from a nice Private Full day catch and release trip with Will and Robert! Neither of these guys had caught a Sheepy before today and yet they crushed it! Over 25 landed and released today! We had proper conditions and the timing was just right! Also caught some nice Spades and Tautog as well!Button -

Today I had the pleasure of taking David and Jack out in the Bay for some fun in the sun! It started slow again as expected, and then it changed right on schedule! These dudes boated just over 30 Sheeps today! 2 citations included! A truly great day on the water!Button -

I was back out on the water today with Mike, John and his son John! Conditions were awesome out there with the mild morning winds. It started a little slower today, but they still managed what would have been a boat limit of Sheeps, yet they only wanted to keep 2 each and we released the rest! Then we made a run and found a nice school of Spades that I spotted last week and finished the trip with some light tackle drag burning fun! A great trip with some awesome new friends!Button -

Well, I have to say it was a calm and beautiful morning in the Bay. I had a trip out with Jeremy and his 2 Cousins lined up. I have to admit I didn't know his cousins were kids. All of this is fine, but immediately I was worried because catching Sheepshead is not like catching Seabass, Spadefish or Ribbonfish. It's tricky. I was worried that they were going to struggle with it. But, I was pleasantly surprised when Avery, the youngest, was the first to hookup! A nice 22 incher! He was shortly followed by his brother Ari who landed another 22 incher! They were all smiles and I was very relieved lol! In total these first time Sheepshead fisherman landed 13 keepers today! Awesome! I sure wish my first Sheepshead fishing day would have went that good lol!Button -

Thank you Baby Jesus for another great day on the water! I had the pleasure of taking Chad, Kevin, and Russ out today! The conditions were perfect out there this morning and it quickly paid off! Russ was the first to drop his crab in the water and 15 seconds later had a 20+ inch Sheep hooked up! Just as I netted his Kevin hooked up and it just continued from there! The lesson I learned today was to bring more than one net lol! At one point we had a quad hookup and I wasn't fishing, figure that one out lol! They had me sweating running the net! A truly great day with some awesome new friends!Button -

What a freakin day! Can't say how much I enjoyed taking Albert, Jeffery, and Marquith out today for a Bay experience! Conditions were a bit choppy but they got it done! Over 30 landed today with multiple citations! Jeffery busted out with the early lead, but Albert and Marquith caught up late in the trip! Definitely a great family trip! Better bring 2 coolers next time 😂Button -

Had a nice private trip out today with Russel from Va Beach! The conditions were challenging, so we had to try some different areas. Crazy enough he caught his first Sheepy on his first drop! Surprised both of us! He landed some nice Sheeps and Tautog in the upper teen range and chose to release them all. Later on the conditions eased up and we made some moves and he landed the 25 and 26 inch citations pictured! Both released to live on! Great day on the water with a new friend!Button
